At the annual International Conference for Innovations in Cardiovascular (ICI) Systems, Dr. Yaron Almagor, the Director of Shaare Zedek’s Interventional Cardiology and Cardiac Catheterization Lab, once again transmitted live from our state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology laboratories in the Jesselson Heart Center to 2,000 participants at the conference.

Dr. Almagor and Dr. Rafi Wolff (Director of our Structural Heart Disease Unit) broadcast for the first time, live, in Israel, a mitral valve (also known as the bicuspid valve and left atrioventricular valve, which is a dual-flap valve in the heart between the left atrium and the left ventricle) repair in a novel procedure. The innovative clip holds the valve leaflets together while another new device allows effective blood flow during compromised cardiac output. They also transmitted an implantation of a new prosthetic aortic valve in a patient with complex anatomy and an angioplasty of the left main coronary artery in a young patient using intravenous imaging and a new generation of stents.
