Just over a year ago, my grandfather Morris passed away. Despite his small size, my grandfather was a towering figure. He set an example for our family about how one comes from nothing and builds a life and a family after experiencing the horrors of the Holocaust.

My grandfather spent the final weeks of his life in the hospital but thankfully those weeks were made easier as a result of the attentive and professional care he received from the medical staff at Shaare Zedek in Jerusalem.

Now, I am honored to say that I have the chance to give back and thank the hospital for the way in which they cared for my grandfather and over the next 3 months I will participate in two sporting events to raise funds for Shaare Zedek.

- On Monday, 30 May I will be running 10 kilometers in the Vitality London 10K.

- On 31 July I will cycle 100 miles in the Prudential Bike Ride from London through Surrey and back.

I kindly ask for your help in this effort so that together we can support the life-saving work done by the medical staff at Shaare Zedek.

This year, Shaare Zedek UK is focusing its fundraising on supporting its new children's hospital. Having become a father just under one year ago, I can only imagine what it's like to have a child in need of emergency or specialised medical attention. Our support can help the children of Jerusalem by providing the best facilities and technology available to help those in need.

Thank you for considering this note and good luck to all the riders and runners!

Warm wishes,
